Sunshine Behavioral Health Keystone Retreat

This 36,700 SF project focused on renovating an existing substance abuse and behavioral health campus to restore vital community services following the facility’s closure. The primary challenge was completing the first phase within a 2½-month window to begin serving patients as quickly as possible. Renovation scope across the main building and ground floor included commissioning of existing AHUs and HVAC upgrades, electrical and lighting improvements, low voltage and cabling upgrades with system commissioning, door security retrofits with new FOB readers, plumbing upgrades featuring a new grease interceptor and updated sinks throughout, new flooring, privacy walls in patient rooms, and fresh paint. Nurses stations were added on multiple levels to support clinical operations. Level 1 received specialized attention with a conversion to ligature-resistant grilles, reconfigured shower areas, ligature-resistant materials at the sinks to conceal existing rough-ins, and new ligature-resistant light fixtures — all critical upgrades for a behavioral health environment.
