Duolingo Offices and Expansion

About The Project

Duolingo, started and headquartered in Pittsburgh, provides a free online language-learning program.  In 2016 they selected AE7 as the Architect and MBM as the General Contractor to complete renovations to approximately 14,400 SF of space.  The space includes a reception area, lobby, restrooms, an open office area with space for 109 employees, Café, dining area, stage, three quiet rooms, and five meeting rooms including a patio meeting room with garage doors so staff can enjoy nice weather while working.  The space also includes break areas for staff to unwind with cornhole, foosball, pool, video games, or music, and a full kitchen so their Chefs can keep the Café fully stocked and can provide a large lunch buffet for Duolingo staff each day.  Almost two years later, Duolingo asked Avon Graf Architects and MBM Contracting to work together on the expansion of their current space.  The expansion includes nine special projects offices, additional seating for the dining area, an open break area with an entertainment system and games, and an expansion to their kitchen.  We hope this is the first of many expansions for this incredibly successful company.
